This is a compact, slow-spreading, deciduous shrub that features spikes of fluffy, white fragrant flowers which produce high-quality nectar for hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and other pollinators. It has dark glossy green leaves which turn a striking yellow in autumn. After flowering, seed capsules remain through winter to add interest to any landscape. It is a great addition to small gardens and fits perfectly around foundations.  Often found in moist swampy areas, it will tolerate wet feet.  Flowers appear on new growth.
