Ardisia, also known as Marlberry, is a non-aggressive, mat-like ground cover that grows up to 12-18" in height. Flowers are star-shaped, white, and tinged pink in late spring/summer followed by bright red berries in the fall/winter. Prefers well-drained, cool moist soils. Shelter from cold drying wind in the winter. Use as a ground cover or trimmed hedge in shaded areas. Spreads by suckers and is not drought tolerant.
