St. John's Wort is a small, dense, upright mounding deciduous shrubby perennial. Grows easily in average, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Has large showy golden yellow flowers. Blooms June -July and flowers give way to reddish brown fruit capsules that ripen in the fall and persist into the winter. Very attractive when used in mass plantings. Can also be used in shrub borders, or as a hedge. Tolerant of some drought. Mulch roots in winter. Flowers bloom on new wood. Native plant. Grows 12-18" ht
