Winter Green Boxwood is an evergreen shrub of Korean origin that features small, oval-rounded, dark green leaves. This densly-packed shrub does best in full sun to part shade.
It prefers moist, cool, well-drained soil and is adaptable to various soil types. But, since the roots are shallow, mulch heavily to help retain moisture. Once established this plant is very drought tolerant. Plant in full sun to light shade but provide some protection from wind and winter weather because foliage will turn an orangish-brown color with colder temperatures.
Great for use in foundation plantings, containers, borders, or as a small hedge. Bonus: Korean boxwoods are deer and rabbit-tolerant, too.

A vigorously growing Boxwood, the habit of NewGen Freedom® is more uniform and tighter than ‘Wintergreen’ or ‘Winter Gem’ making it an excellent choice for formal and residential landscapes, plus has a good resistance to boxwood blight. Because of its strong growth pattern, it should be pruned two times a year, especially in late winter to early spring. Like other boxwood cultivars, it tends to bronze in the winter, especially in full sun and/or unprotected exposure. Does best in full to part sun, but will tolerate full shade. Deer resistant.
