Grows 20' ht. & sp.
Also known as the 'Red Dragon' (translation of Hóng Lóng), this very rare evergreen Maple that was discovered by Mark Weathington of the JC Raulston Arboretum. It is relatively fast-growing and sports deep purplish-maroon leaves on its new leaves that fade to a reddish-green in summer. The bark turns to an interesting deep purple-red, adding to year-round interest. This tree performs best with moist, well-draining soil and a little afternoon shade.
