Hamamelis x intermedia 'Arnold's Promise'

Witch Hazel is a deciduous shrub with a spreading habit and moderate growth rate. It has yellow blooms in late winter and early spring.  Hamamelis x intermedia is an artificial hybrid between H. japonica and H. mollis.  It's an upright or wide-spreading tree, not densely branched but does have multiple stems. Plant in the full sun to partial shade, in moist, fertile, well-drained acidic soil.  

Late winter or early spring blooms are fragrant and yellow, and appear before new leaves emerge. Fall leaves are yellow.  Plant in small groups, use as a shrub border, as a hedge or plant solo as a specimen.  Does tolerate pruning, but remember that flowers will appear on old growth. Deer resistant.

Witch Hazel is a deciduous shrub with a spreading habit and moderate growth rate. 'Diane' has copper red blooms in late winter and early spring that emerge before the leaves.  

Hamamelis x intermedia is an artificial hybrid between H. japonica and H. mollis.  It's an upright or wide-spreading bush, not densely branched but does have multiple stems.
